About the Role
As an Energy Markets Portfolio Manager, you will actively contribute in the following three key areas:
Market design:
- Develop a deep understanding of energy market regulations across various countries, with an initial focus on Belgium and France.
- Identify and quantify additional opportunities for flexibility valorisation based on the technical capabilities of ThermoVault’s solutions. Once validated, take ownership of the process - from contractual negotiations with potential partners to implementation (in collaboration with the algorithm team) and commercialisation.
- Propose and implement a suitable bidding strategy that aligns with flexibility product requirements and specificities of ThermoVault’s steering solutions.
- Assess existing market rules and proposed design changes, ensuring that the unique aspects of low-voltage flexibility are appropriately represented. This includes representing ThermoVault in workshops and networking events with policymakers, system operators, and other key stakeholders in the energy sector
Implementation:
- Translate market rules and relevant design requirements into specifications that are clear and actionable for the algorithm team.
- Act as the project leader, ensuring coordination and collaboration among all involved experts, including IT, the algorithm team, and the Ariston R&D team.
Operations:
- Establish optimal processes and dashboards to monitor and support the commercialization of ThermoVault’s flexibility products.
- Proactively identify and implement improvement opportunities to maximise ThermoVault’s flexibility potential.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners and oversee the settlement of our flexibility products.
Requirements
- You have a Master degree in economics or engineering - or you compensate such educational background with relevant experience.
- You have at least 2 years of experience working within the energy sector.
- It is considered a big plus if you are familiar with valorisation of flexibility from decentralised assets, the design and rules of the wholesale energy and/or balancing markets (day-ahead, intraday, real-time, frequency reserves), etc.
- You are fluent in French and English; any other language is a plus.
- You identify with our core values: ownership, excellence, and commitment to delivery.
- You have an analytical and structured mindset.
- You have an aptitude in decision-making, problem-solving and risk-avoiding or mitigation.
- You are a strong communicator with clear commercial and interpersonal qualities.
- You are willing to travel from time to time for short trips.
